Delhi to Jalandhar distance, travel time and best route
Jalandhar is about 380 km from Delhi on NH-44, the well-maintained Delhi–Amritsar national highway. It is the standard route and the only one you need: north through Panipat, Karnal and Ambala, into Punjab, through Ludhiana and on to Jalandhar. Plan on 6 – 7 hours with one or two breaks.
| Route | Via | Distance | Travel time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Recommended | NH-44 → Panipat → Karnal → Ambala → Ludhiana → Jalandhar | ~380 km | 6 hr 30 min | Fastest highway route |
NH-44 is famous for its Punjabi dhabas — Haveli, the Murthal paratha stops and Amrik Sukhdev among them — and lunch is usually at Karnal or Ludhiana. Ludhiana is 60 km short of Jalandhar; if that is where you are headed, see our Delhi to Ludhiana taxi page.

Going on to Amritsar
Amritsar is just 75 km beyond Jalandhar on the same highway, which is why a Delhi–Jalandhar–Amritsar trip is one of the most popular Punjab circuits. A combined 2-day round trip in a Sedan costs ₹13,500. If Amritsar is your main destination, our Delhi to Amritsar taxi page has the full route and fares.
